The 3 Missing Pieces to Most Instructor Trainings

Teacher trainings aren't just about memorizing cues or learning how to demo. They're about building instructors who can think, adapt, and lead...especially in high-pressure, boutique fitness settings.

Here’s how I structure my trainings to create instructors who deliver on both retention and results:

1. I Teach the Why Before the What
We don’t start with coaching exercise after exercise. We start with:

  • What makes a class feel intentional

  • Why certain patterns fatigue muscles faste

  • How to adapt to different bodies, moods, and energy levels

Because when instructors understand the “why,” they become confident, consistent, and creative.

2. I Train in Layers, Not Scripts
No two clients—or class energies—are the same. Instead of memorizing a rigid script, instructors learn how to:

  • Layer on intensity

  • Adjust tempo, cues, or transitions on the fly

  • Read the room and coach in real time

This leads to better client experiences—and higher return rates.

3. We Practice Communication, Not Just Movement

Client results depend on more than just a tough workout, so we focus on:

  • Tone, pacing, and vocal variety

  • Coaching with empathy

  • Clear cueing for both visual and auditory learners

The best instructors connect just as much as they coach.

Whether I’m training instructors in Manila, Austin, or Shanghai, the goal is the same: Build confident leaders who clients trust and return to.
